Inhabit Queens Gardens: a pleasurable stroll from the London Meditation Centre
Inhabit Queens Gardens Yoga Studio
Caroline Sylge and her daughter discover a Bayswater bolthole ideal for London Meditation Centre learners who need to stay overnight
When I took my teenage daughter to learn Vedic Meditation in person, with the brilliant Jillian Lavender of the London Meditation Centre, we wanted to stay somewhere suitably calm and comforting. We chose Inhabit Queens Gardens, an easy 15-minute walk away through the streets of Bayswater, and walking to and from there became part of the rhythm of our stay - unhurried and companionable.
Plant-focused plates in the Yeotown restaurant were delicious and considered, and we enjoyed lingering in between times over adaptogenic lattes, probiotic drinks and the scrumptious ‘mindful mocktails’. We both slept well in our thoughtfully laid out Scandi-style twin room and relished the colourful and varied independent artwork scattered throughout.
While my teen enjoyed her lie-ins, I had a private yoga session with Pina, whose teaching is clear and kind, or made use of the studio for my own practice. Private use of the infra-red sauna and salt room set me up each morning - it’s complimentary for guests but needs to be pre-booked. Treatments are also on offer, and there’s a gym.
Do pre-book your breakfast table, as mornings are often busy. Service was a little hit and miss during our stay, though staff were always charming. It’s worth noting some of Inhabit's workforce are still in training because they are alumni from an impressive organisation called Saira Hospitality, which connect hotels with local communities for roles within the hospitality industry.
