Making friends with Provençal Adventures in France

This photo of me and writer Louise Atkinson was taken on our first hike with Provençal Adventures in France. We bonded on a long climb to the summit of Lachens Mountain, where we chatted like we’d known each other 40 years. I loved her sense of humour, her funny stories and her self-deprecation – like me, she’d also doubted her hiking abilities. Usually, retreats for me are about the beautiful setting, the treatments, the break from everyday life, the things I learn, but on this hiking and cultural retreat, it was the people who made it special - from Louise’s sense of fun to our host Remi Dubois’ unwavering care and diligence.
